the Purpose and the Porpoise - Part 4
Stewarth's mother was named Kiwi (why is another story). She was inside the giant net, suspended in mid air, with her short snout jutting ut. Stewarth was perplexeded at her presence for two reasons. One, the Tuna Co-op had promised that no porpoises would be harmed, and two, he didn't want another lecture about the immorality of genocide. He'd gotten enough of that growing up.Stewarth's inquiry on how she had come to be in the net was answered in the following manner:
My little Stewbie, I think now it is time to come clean on some facts. When I got caught in this net, I was swimming around with...your father. I know this must be a shock, since I've always told you that your father died when you were small, but the fact of the matter is that your father works for a secret organization and has had to keep his family hidden for our own protection. We've met up whenever we could, always in disguise."
After some moments, in which Stewarth nearly fell out of the air, he responded, "But then how did you and he end up in the net?"
"Your father sighted the tuna net and just couldn't help himself. He went right for it, and I followed."
"But porpoises aren't attracted to tuna nets like these idiotic dolphins."
Well, Stewbie, the other thing I've been meaning to tell you...You're a hybrid child."

Which way should the story go? Will Stewarth accept his heritage as an aquatic mule, or will the startling news drive him over the edge? Leave your comments!

Interesting twist... hmmm. I think that he should explore the social issues a bit.
I think he should fly off to Cancun and let the whole mess sort itself out.
ll: that's kind of a Bertie Wooster approach - Run away from trouble and wait for it to simmer down. The suffestion has merit, though it wouldn't show much character development.
ams: what kind of social issues? Could it be related to inter-racial marriages? That's not what I was originally thinking, but it could b a good spin.
That's what I was thinking... interracial marriage, or dealing with the fact that he is interracial.
ams: In that case the mule reference I made was completely inappropriate.
Well... you should go where you feel the characters take you.
And if the characters want to take you to Cancun, you should just go.
Yeah, Cancun... and if they pay for Cancun, then that's even better. :)
Ya'll need a vacation.
